Judge Pope provides counsel and representation in the area of commercial and business related litigation/transactions to clients and institutions throughout South Texas. These services include representation and counsel in business formation, sales/acquisitions, licensing and regulatory issues, employee claims/relations, corporate dissolutions, shareholder oppression/discrimination litigation, mergers, partnerships and transactional review/litigation.
His employment law practice also includes the representation of employers in non-subscriber employee injury claims, wrongful discharge, age discrimination and retaliation litigation.
Judge Pope is a qualified mediator in Texas and will provide all forms of alternative dispute resolution services, either upon agreement of the involved parties or by court referral.
He represents individuals and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service and United States Tax Court in relation to relief from levies, seizures, garnishments as well as negotiation of offers in compromise, payment plans and settlement of disputed claims.
Judge Pope represents the region's three largest health systems as well as South Texas' physicians and group medical practices in healthcare liability claims as well as a myriad of institutional, compliance and commercial matters including staff credentialling, licensure, business establishment and transactions, regulatory and managed care issues, practice sale/acquisition, employment matters and defense of medicaid/medicare fraud as well as kickback charges.
He has served as a Municipal Court Judge and State Magistrate for twenty-two years. He served two terms as a member of the State Bar of Texas' Judiciary Relations Committee. Judge Pope was honored by the Texas House of Representatives for his many years of service to the judiciary.
