What's New at Adams & GrahamIn October 2007, Scott Clark and Roger Hughes argued before the Texas Supreme Court in New Texas Auto Auction Services v. Gomez de Hernandez, Cause No. 06-0550. In February 2007, Scott Clark prevailed in Texas' Thirteenth Court of Appeal in an appeal challenging the adequacy of an expert report supporting a healthcare liability claim against a hospital. In March 2006, Roger Hughes argued for Petitioner Metro Novelties in “SSP Partners, et al v. Gladstrong Investments (USA) Corp.,” Case No. 05-0721, in the Texas Supreme Court. This was the first case to be webcast live by the Texas Supreme Court. In December 2006, Roger Hughes argued for Petitioner
in “In re McAllen Medical Center,” Case No. 05-0892, in the Texas
Supreme Court. This is an
important mandamus case concerning the interlocutory review of a trial
court’s decision not to dismiss a health care liability case under
article 4590i, section 13.01, for failure to provide an expert report. Roger Hughes was on the planning committee for the DRI Appellate Practice Seminar to be held in Miami Beach, Florida, in February 2008. He also spoke on "Substantive Due Process" at the State Bar of Texas Advanced Appellate Practice Seminar in Austin, Texas, on September 7, 2007. He is currently the chair of the TADC amicus curiae committee. The publishers of Texas Monthly Magazine once again
recognized Roger Hughes as a “Texas Super Lawyer” for his success in civil
appeals in 2007. In October 2005, the Texas House of Representatives entered a Resolution, sponsored by State Representative Jim Solis (District 38), honoring Judge William L. (Bill) Pope for eighteen years of public service as a judge and magistrate. The Resolution also commended Bill for his years of service on the State Bar of Texas' Judiciary Relations Committee. Ferriel C. (Kent) Hamby and Will Hughes have presented seminars on regulatory and documentation issues to a graduating class of Licensed Vocational Nurses at Valley Baptist Medical Center in December 2005, 2006, and 2007. Will Hughes presented a CME seminar on "End of Life Issues" to the Medical Staff at Harlingen Medical Center in November 2007. Roger Hughes was appointed to serve on the Civil
Appellate Law Advisory Commission and Will Hughes was re-appointed to
serve on the Health Law Advisory Commission for the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization. Adams & Graham, L.L.P. has a total of four practice

Specialization. Craig
Vittitoe is board certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury
Law. Roger Hughes is board
